Description

Add seamless Wireless Car Play, Wireless Android Auto, Factory Navigation and HD Radio to your IOS or IOT infotainment equipped 2019 and 2020 Silverado or Sierra with plug and play simplicity! This upgrade Is NOT compatible with IOR infotainment, if you have a 2021+ WITHOUT Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, a 7″ display or no steering wheel audio controls you have the IOR infotainment. There are some 8″ IOR variants as well so you need to follow the instructions below to confirm you do NOT have the IOR infotainment.

This WAMS exclusive upgrade includes a brand new (not used/salvage etc like others) radio module custom programmed to your vehicles specific content AND more importantly it’s pre-registered on the GM Back End for plug and play simplicity and 100% OEM operation including all OnStar functions, App Shop etc! If you have a 2019 you will need to read the special section in the FAQ to determine if this will work for you. If it will more parts will be necessary to ensure  100% OEM operation; you can find that information detailed in the FAQ section.

Please make sure you read through the ENTIRE description / Q&A section prior to ordering so you understand what this upgrade entails, if your vehicle is capable of it and what features are applicable. If you order this upgrade for an IOR equipped vehicle despite numerous warnings not to you will be responsible for restocking costs.

FAQ:

Q: How do I know if this upgrade will work for me?
A: You will need to have the IOS (Mid Level) Radio without navigation (With an SD Card Slot) or the IOT (Up Level) Radio with Navigation. This kit will NOT work on IOR equipped vehicles. This kit also will NOT work on a 2019 If you have 360 Degree Surround Vision (RPO UV2). If you are confused as to which version your vehicle has you can check the QR code on your build label to see which radio you have this is generally on the Driver or Passenger Door Jamb / B Pillar area or the glovebox. Scanning the QR code will show all of the option (RPO) codes look for code IOS or IOT if you have either of these keep reading if you have IOR stop now as your vehicle is not compatible.

Q: How can I tell which Audio Type I have?
A: Use the same instructions as above and scan the QR built code and look for RPO UQA (Bose) or UQF for Base.

Q: Will this work on a 2014-2018 K2 Platform Vehicle?
A: No this is only for 2019 and 2020 T1 Pickup Trucks.

Q: What Market/Region does this upgrade support?
A: At this time these are designed for the North American Market ONLY.

Q: How do you know which options I have?
A: We will configure the unit using the factory build data associated with your vin for options.

Q: It’s really plug and play?
A: Yes the unit arrives ready to go and pre registered with GM for infotainment feature continuity and plug and play simplicity. The ONLY thing you’ll have to do if you happen to have an active XM account will be to call them and tell them the new radio ID to transfer service over.

Q: Does this kit require an active OnStar subscription?
A: No but being an XM360L equipped unit it may show a notice regarding no data connection when in XM.

Q: Does this kit include the map database?
A: Yes it sure does, it includes the most current one available to boot.

Q: How hard is the install?
A: Pretty easy if you take your time and have basic Automotive knowledge. The unit resides below the glove box so you must remove the lower insulator under the glove box, remove a small inverter, possibly unplug a harness to move out of the way then unplug the old unit release it from its mount then install the new unit. We are over simplifying it here but its really not a bad install, just need a good small automotive pick, a 10mm socket and some patience. You can click HERE for the installation instructions to see what you’re in for!

Q: What changes are necessary to facilitate installation into a 2019?
A: For 2020+ GM introduced a separate WiFi Antenna that the 2019’s are lacking. This antenna is primarily used for updates however with heavy hotspot load the unit can also start using this additional antenna in conjunction with the internal one to keep everything running properly. The good news is that while the OEM version is very hard to mount we have found a suitable inexpensive aftermarket version that in testing works just fine for this application. You can source that unit on amazon by clicking HERE. The other change you need to be aware of is GM changed the camera architecture slightly as well in 2020+. This means if you have a UVB (single rear view camera) equipped truck you must also replace this camera as well. This camera can be found from many online parts retailers, your local dealer etc and is very simple to swap out. The part number for the UVB Camera is 84884484. 270/360 Camera systems are NOT SUPPORTED OUT OF THE BOX ON THE 2019. In order to use this in a 2019 with multiple cameras of any kind you will need to upgrade to the newer 2020/2021 style VPM with our custom programming. DO NOT BUY THIS if you have a 2019 with 270/360 Cameras (Surround Vision) unless you’re up for replacing the VPM. You can access the 2019 Specific Installation Addendum by clicking HERE.

Awesome product! Took me an hour total to install. Love wireless CarPlay!! Well worth the price to me!

  2. Jarett Logsdon (verified owner)

I installed the WAMS wireless android/car play radio on my 2020 truck 2 days ago. It only took me 20 minutes to install but I am pretty good with connectors. WAMS has good instructions on how to do the swap. It is two 10mm nuts and disconnecting ~8 plugs for a Silverado. The radio comes nicely packaged with a SD card for navigation. I plugged radio in, put my email in for onstar and everything was ready to go. I gained wireless car play and android auto. I get in truck and the android auto app connects automatically. I retrofitted an OEM wireless charger on my truck so it is really nice to just set my phone down or keep in my pocket and android auto automatically connects, no more wires. I was having problems with my wire connecting prior to this. I also have the OEM navigation which works great. I retrofitted 360 cameras on my truck also with help of WAMS back in June. With this radio upgrade I gained the LTZ/HC trailer app that (with my 360 upgrade) allows me to enter trailer dimensions for invisible trailer, jack knife warning and trailer blind spot warning, the prior two are upgrades for the 2021 trailering app. This is truly smooth OEM function. WAMS is providing a brand new $800 radio (same functionality that is in 2021 trucks) and a $300 sd card. I think this is a great value for the programming and equipment you get, especially considering people are paying $600 for GPS only upgrade which is basically just a SD card. Thank you WAMS for offering these very cool OEM solutions.

After Chevy announced the 2021 models would have wireless CarPlay I was disappointed that I had just bought a 2020 model year. I figured it was a matter of time until someone came up with a way to upgrade the earlier trucks and I was thrilled when I saw WAMS was working on it. I ordered as soon as it was available and I am incredibly happy with my purchase. Install is easy if you take your time and don’t rush the connector removal. Once everything is installed, it just works. All my profile information loaded immediately and worked the same as my factory radio. Wireless CarPlay connects immediately and works great. Considering my truck didn’t come with navigation, getting both wireless Carplay and factory navigation made this a very economical upgrade.

I installed the Silverado / Sierra Wireless Car Play / Android Auto radio upgrade in my 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD AT4 about a week ago. So far I’m very pleased with the results and use it for wireless Car Play. Thanks to my size, long arms, big hands and unfamiliarity with the connectors, it took me a couple of hours to install. For those also unfamiliar with the connectors, the tool I would add to the list (auto pick set, metal trim removal tool and socket wrench) is a small inspection mirror so you can see the back side of the connectors to unlock them. I didn’t unplug the large harness running across the area mentioned in the instructions but did take it’s mounts loose. The instructions / diagrams are brief but complete and to the point. A bonus to this upgrade I received is another free 3 months of Sirius XM when switching over my account. I really like being able to Apple-Map my destination and just lay my phone on the wireless charger and head out. I would definitely purchase again.

Installed the Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto module in my 2020 High Country 1500. This thing works flawlessly ! It’s a little tight up in the dash when you’re installing it, but if you take your time it’s quite simple. CarPlay just works now when I get in the truck, no wires, just get in and go. I wouldn’t recommend those other “Adapters” you find on Facebook, this is the real deal factory solution and it just works – awesome support too.

  6. Keegan Smith (verified owner)

This works fantastic when you get it installed. Install isn’t easy, takes patience and time and the right tools but well worth the trouble. Great product.

  7. russelldeanlong (verified owner)

My favorite mod so far. I installed it today in under an hour. I watched a few youtube videos from a few vendors that made install a breeze. Wireless Andriod Auto and OEM nav work flawlessly. It actually fixed the FM statiin browse issue I had in my old unit and I pick up more stations to boot. Great product, fast shipping and great customer support.

  8. awh3rgm (verified owner)

Just installed the module in my 2020 Denali today, wireless car play worked perfectly. I didn’t have to change my Sirius XM subscription, Navigation worked flawlessly, everything came back on line with no issues.

  9. Jrackliff (verified owner)

I had this Wireless Carplay/Android module installed on my 202 GMC Denali 1500 Sierra truck today. Just as stated on this website my truck went from wired carplay to wireless and I can’t be more satisfied and excited to have this in my truck. Not having to be wired anymore is totally awesome. I know the price is expensive but well worth it. Getting everything setup once again as far as Navigation with a 2021 Map Update, Sirius Radio and other settings was easy and quick. White Automotive and Media Services and their support staff have been awesome. They were with me every step of the way to make me feel comfortable and confident that my purchase and installation would go very well. I am looking forward to more items that will come from them to able me to enjoy my truck and driving experience even more down the road. I highly recommend this company for whatever you need to have something that will make it a pleasure to drive your vehicle. Thank you to everyone at White Automotive and Media Services for a job well done.

Superior customer service. Product is just like factory. No compromises. No modifying your vehicle or losing functions. Does exactly what it says.

I tried using the adapter kids off the Internet to get wireless CarPlay, and had endless problems with compatibility and connection and antenna speed. Since I installed this module everything works perfectly there is never a drop or a connection issue, and I have factory navigation now on top of that.

This product is well worth the money and works exactly as advertised. For those of you who want to add features to your truck without making your truck look like you customized it this is for you.

Installed this radio module is my 2020 Denali 3500 and it works great! Like someone else said there is a great video from another company on how to remove the radio module (https://youtu.be/XmwYkHggekc) particularly the connectors if you are not used to dealing with them. A small auto pic works perfect. A couple of additional pointers, make sure wireless is enabled/on on your phone in addition to Bluetooth. You do not need to connect to the trucks WiFi or doing anything else …wireless CarPlay uses Bluetooth to make the connection and then creates a closed WiFi network connection in the background. Also, make sure you do not have your hot spot on as I found this made audio cut out as it was probably interfering with the closed WiFi network. Definitely worth it to have some of the additional 2021 trailering features as well!

  12. Denise Gates (verified owner)

Great product worth the money and very fast delivery and A+ customer service had issue with installation emailed and they responded immediately. Their service was so great that I when ahead and order Digital cluster will be leaving another review once I installed it. I rarely leave feedback but just had to leave a feedback on my experience

  13. larry.withrow (verified owner)

This is great! No need to always connect to USB for Apple CarPlay experience and works great in my 2020 Rocky Ridge Silverado. It took me awhile to get the connectors unplugged after getting an automotive pic but installing the new one in was a breeze and works perfect. I have tried those china adapters that only worked 1/2 the time and poor audio.
Highly recommend for anyone one with a 2019-2020 GM Truck.

  14. Wyatt Vowell (verified owner)

Installed the Module on my 2020 Silverado. Module worked great. BE WARNED I have to let my truck sit overnight for it to properly calibrate apparently for the NAV to work properly. If you’re getting an SD card ejection error, just give it a day and probably contact the company who are FAST at responding by the way, by far the best customer service I had in a long time. ALSO REMEMBER THAT THE PINS ON THE MODULE ALL PULL DOWN TOWARD YOU WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 1 OR 2 THEY ALSO HAVE A BUTTON YOU NEED TO PRESS(usually right under where the pin was pulled from)IN ORDER TO GET THE ATTACHED CABLE FREE. A GOOD AUTOMIVE PICK IS A NECCESITY! The video Karl Connell posted in his review is not a bad video to review. Overall process (if you know where/how the pins work), Less than a 15 minute process. If you are a stubborn fool like me who didn’t look at a video 45-60 Minutes. Overall, I really like the product. Android Auto wireless is very convenient albeit a minute degradation in quality of display (audio is fine) which is an obvious occurrence moving from wired to wireless do to the latency of the signal. Having the NAV is a good back-up. MAP SD stays in the vehicle as well and I found that removing the side panels made accessing the area a little easier for bigger people. I would get this product again, in fact I’m getting the cluster modification as soonas I can afford it. Good job White Automotive and Media Services!

  15. Shelton (verified owner)

Works exactly as advertised. Plugged in and worked great. I purchased specifically for the wireless carplay, was a bonus to get nav too! Will be upgrading the instrument cluster in the near future. The upgrade backup camera for the 2019 is also much clearer.

  16. William Partridge (verified owner)

Wow! A company that does not misrepresent in any way. And this is well worth the money. Not only did I get the wireless CarPlay but got a few more trailering features as well ! Thanks. I look forward to more great products for my 2020 Silverado 2500 LTZ. The order was quick and all install information was clear and easy to follow.

So I waited a few months to leave a review so I could use it and hopefully be able to help someone out who has similar vehicle. I have a 2019 RST Silverado Model. Heres was my experience. First off -DO read the FAQ’s here and then go by them to the letter and you will be good to go. Yes for my model I had to purchase a new back up camera which I did from a local dealer, as well as the new wifi antenna which I simply followed the link for. So putting it in, again the videos out there are very helpful. I also did get and highly reccomend the pick tool for removing and unlocking the wire connections. I think I paid $5 for it at the local auto parts store. Mine came with 4 different angled pieces, google Channellock pick and hook set if you need a description of what your looking for then go buy whatever brand at your local auto store. So back to removal again follow video and take your time it is a bit of a challenge for first timers however I was a first timer as well. I also popped off the side kick panel for better access as well. Once out just sliip the new one in, Also a few things not so clear to me while putting in the new one- You do plug your old wifi antenna back in next to the plug for the new wifi, At least I did-not sure if it serves a purpose but I did. Also you DO NOT need a data subscription in order for any of this to work. I had the Onstar from when I bought the truck new so once that expired I did not renew it and I also had the At&t Data Plan and called and canceled that. So yes it works with no Data plan at all. The camera is super easy to install and it is an upgrade as far as clarity. I use the CarPlay daily going to customers houses and it simply syncs up when I start the vehicle. Over all I am super happy and totally would do it again and recommend it. I had quite a few questions while installing it and would email these guys and they got back with me practically immediate. So all thumbs up from me. Hope this is helpful if your on the fence about this purchase.

I highly recommend this Wireless CarPlay/Android module. I installed this in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss. It’s genuine factory quality and I’m extremely pleased with the wireless CarPlay connectivity. Forget the aftermarket dongles and spend the money on this. Plainly stated, “It works.” Now, the install was not that bad after getting used to maneuvering my body into place on the floor. I would highly recommend what the other reviewers stated: (1) buy an automotive pick, and (2) most importantly, I would recommend you watch the YouTube video suggested in another post. Just work your way through the connectors one by one, and trust me you can do it. Good luck, and thank you to WAMS for a quality product.

  19. Thomas Arias (verified owner)

Simply amazing! I still have a smile on my face from how awesome CarPlay is. No dongles, cables, cheap adapters to get Apple CarPlay to work. It’s all OEM and seamless. I love it! It’s the perfect wireless setup paired with my Quad lock wireless charger hooked up to a Add-A-Circuit fuse tap. No visible wires makes it a nice clean look.

Instructions are very easy to follow and everything took about 45 mins. I did not use automotive picks… I had a lobster/crab pick laying around and used that as my “automotive pick”. Whatever works, right?! It helped get the little tabs out then I was able to pinch the adapters off. Worth the price and shout out to Truck Ownership:101 for letting me know about this amazing company. Cheers!

    Dash upgrade will be next

    Thanks

I am very happy with my wireless CarPlay upgrade for my 2020 Sierra AT4! I followed the video instructions for installing. I also bought the pick tool set to do the job. I don’t think I would have been able to do the job without the pick tools. It took me about an hour and a half to complete the job. I really like not requiring wires to get my maps on the display. I just put the phone in the wireless charging slot and go. It was the one thing missing on my truck. Great gear. Thank you.

  22. Johnny Rasar (verified owner)

Awesome product and the service is even better!! I had a few questions before I purchased and a couple after the install and I couldn’t be happier with the speed of every reply!!

  23. Keith Gorman (verified owner)

Great product for my 2020 AT4 and even better service from WAMS. I had a few issues with syncing after the installation. They answered my emails immediately and the problem was solved in no time. Thanks again!

I replaced the radio unit in my 2020 Trailboss that only had wired Apple CarPlay with this unit. The install was pretty easy, there are 2 separate YouTube videos I found that really made the install very easy (links below). It took me about 30-45 minutes total to install and I took my time. I do recommend getting one of the automotive picks as it made the job much easier. The only issue I had (if you want to call it an issue) was the onboard navigation didn’t work right when I turned the truck on. I emailed White Auto late in the evening and got a response back almost immediately. I guess since I installed it in my garage and did’t drive the truck immediately after, the GPS didn’t have time to pick up the signal. They told me to drive it around for a few minutes and the GPS should pick up the signal. The next morning I drove down the street and before I got to the end of the block, it located me and the GPS came up and everything has worked flawlessly since then. I was looking at aftermarket radios to get the wireless CarPlay but I’m glad I chose this upgrade. It is OEM and works exactly like OEM except now I have wireless CarPlay and Navigation. If you are thinking about upgrading, this unit is great and the service from White Automotive was excellent.

Here are the two YouTube videos I found that will help:

I replaced the radio unit in my 2020 Sierra Denali HD that had only wired Android Auto. Install instructions were good. Took me a bit longer as it was difficult for a larger guy to get in to where you need to be. Some sort of pick tool is really a help (I used old dental pick) for releasing the connector locks. Note that the unit slides into the location both the correct way and the backwards way – lost a bit of time to getting it in backwards the first time and puzzling over why the wired did not easily route to the proper connectors :-). Once installed, everything came back up properly on startup and works perfectly. Love not having to plug a cable in all the time!

After purchasing the cluster has to keep it going and get this upgrade for wireless Apple play and factory navigation. Essentially created a High Country on the interior saving thousands. Easy install whether instructions from here or YouTube. I’m loving the new look and capabilities.

  27. Keith Spangler (verified owner)

Awesome product and flawless installation, it took me roughly an hour to fully install (it went in faster than the old unit came out!) and it worked right out of the box. Wireless Android Audio is fantastic!

  28. Earl Ashley (verified owner)

I can’t believe how I didn’t know I needed this. This along with the High Country cluster. Really sets my truck off and apart. Easy install as all other reviews detail and even instructions. If need more comfort the YouTube videos are the same as well. Great product impress and well done!

WAMS service is more impressive than the upgrade to me. Access and ridiculous amounts of retainers from the GM engineering aside, it went together as intended. I had a small problem with it registering to the OnStar network and attempted to resolve myself. Reached out to WAMS and was immediately helped, although all the troubleshooting suggested I had already tried. It was installed over the new year holiday so GM/OnStar engineering wasn’t available. No matter really, as everything technically but just wasn’t able to download apps such as Alexa. WAMS had a trouble ticket in and was even going to send a newly programmed module when one evening a week or so later I get in to the truck and am instructed to accept new terms for nav, online, etc. Something was awry I believe on the backend and they needed to clear the holiday queue at OnStar. Long story longer, everything works beautifully and I’m now debating on getting additional WAMS modules to customize exterior lighting. 2020 1500 AT4, LM2.

  30. Justin G (verified owner)

So far so good! Love the seamless design that wams has put together. Total oem feel. Would recommend having an extra tool or two handy to pull some of the connectors gm put into the module off to make it a little easier. Was a smooth process

I installed the Silverado / Sierra Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, Navigation and HD Radio Upgrade on my 2019 truck. The model is easy to install and works great. Word of advice make sure you know which sound system is in your truck and make sure to select the correct one.

They are quick to respond to any questions.

  32. Anthony McGill (verified owner)

Worked just as promised, instructions for ordering were simple and to the point. The job itself wasn’t bad just be careful with the plugs because they all have some kind of lock on them.

  33. dwelch2177 (verified owner)

This is great! It only took me about 30 minutes to swap out my original module for the upgrade after watching a tutorial video. If you are on the fence and are thinking about getting one of those cheap dongles for wireless CarPlay don’t waste your money. First, it’s not wireless, and second they are junk. This product works perfectly because it’s an OEM part from GM, not a one size fits none Amazon product. If you plan on keeping your truck for longer than 5 years it’s a cost worthy upgrade.

  34. jsiemonski (verified owner)

Awesome product, great service, and quick shipping. I bought my 2019 Sierra in February 2024, and I didn’t realize the CarPlay was only wired – what’s the point of a wireless charger if you have to plug in anyway.. I immediately added a usb dongle which kinda worked, but it would crash occasionally and there was a small but not insignificant delay. I came across the replacement unit from WAMS, and finally pulled the trigger once I could. The installation wasn’t difficult but it did take me closer to 2 hours just because it’s hard to get up in the space to disconnect all the cabling. That includes replacing the backup camera, which the instructions don’t specifically cover, but the process is the same.

I had a little trouble getting OnStar completely configured on the new unit and had to call them three times. They were able to figure it out on the last call, and everything is perfect. CarPlay connects immediately like it does in my wife’s car, and the new gps function is pretty nice. Some new functionality in the trailer config from the 2019, as well. Definitely satisfied.. now I just need the Denali gauge cluster 😁

  35. Evan Stanley (verified owner)

Super stoked about the upgrade, install went smooth, everything works, just need to reprogram TPMS sensors, no SD card slot which confused me for a moment but was unnecessary since I wanted it for the wireless Apple CarPlay feature anyways.
