Description
🚨 IMPORTANT NOTE 🚨
We understand there’s a lot of information here, but it’s essential to read everything on this page top to bottom, including the entire FAQ section. This service is can be a bitcomplex and depends on multiple factors such as your vehicle’s build and modifications etc.
We’ve worked hard to make this as clear and comprehensive as possible including literally every part number of Denali Cluster for every variant ever manufactured.
This exclusive ship in service for a cluster you supply us using the information below allows for complete 100% factory correct operation when using path 1 or 2 below of a K2XX Denali cluster into a non-Denali Truck or SUV properly with plug and play simplicity! This service is 100% custom to your vehicle and options and can be tweaked/adjusted for mods such as added OEM navigation, added front park assist, HUD hardware retrofit as well as parts removed such as magnetic ride, suppression of warning messages and lights etc. This service when done in the recommended manner (new cluster/matching vehicle year/content) is 100% warranty compliant. If you do not wish to supply a cluster you may choose to purchase the Kit item located HERE that includes the cluster hardware and programming.
Choosing the Right Denali Cluster Upgrade Path
There are three ways to upgrade your K2 pickup or SUV with a Denali Cluster. Choose the option that best fits your setup:
1. The “All Stock” Approach (Factory Infotainment, No Mods)
• Your infotainment system is completely stock, and you want to install a Denali Cluster.
• You must use the exact cluster for your model year, market, and fuel type (Gas or Diesel) based on the fitment matrix/parts list.
• Exception: A 2017 Blue Diesel cluster can be used in a 2016 factory Diesel Silverado.
✅ Best for: Those who want a simple, factory-correct upgrade.
⚠️ Important: Follow the fitment matrix to ensure compatibility.
2. The “CarPlay/Android Auto Upgrade Kit or Aftermarket Radio” Approach
• You have our CarPlay/Android Auto Upgrade Kit or an aftermarket radio.
• Compatible clusters:
• Gas Applications: 2016 Red or Blue Gas cluster
• Diesel Applications: 2016 Red Diesel or 2017 Blue Diesel
• Exception: A 2017 Blue Diesel cluster can be used in a 2016 factory Diesel Silverado.
• When ordering, select “Yes – CP/AA Retrofit” when asked if the cluster you are supplying matches your model year.
✅ Best for: Those who have upgraded to CarPlay/Android Auto or installed an aftermarket radio.
⚠️ Important: Compatibility is based on specific model years and part numbers.
3. The “I Found a Deal on a Cluster” Approach
• You already purchased a cluster and want us to try to make it work.
• Important Considerations:
• This is not guaranteed to work, as we haven’t tested every combination like we have with the other two methods.
• We offer custom workarounds (at an additional charge) for certain mismatched clusters as noted below.
• Compatibility Guidelines:
• 2014-2015.5 WITHOUT our CarPlay kit or an aftermarket radio → Follow Option 1 (All Stock) fitment rules.
• 2014-2015.5 WITH our CarPlay kit or an aftermarket radio → You can use ANY 2016-2020 Denali Cluster variant (at your own risk).
• 2016-2020 Models: You can use ANY 2016-2020 Denali Cluster, except for vehicles with a 10-speed Transmission.
• 10-speed Transmission trucks (2018-2020) must use an 2018-2020 cluster from proper gear support.
• When ordering, select “No” when asked if the cluster you are supplying matches your vehicle model year.
✅ Best for: Those who already have a mismatched cluster and are willing to take the risk of retrofitting.
⚠️ Important: Full functionality cannot be guaranteed but we will do our absolute best to make it as perfect as possible.

FAQ:
Q: How do you know what options my truck has for proper cluster configuration?
A: We determine this from your VIN. If you have added factory options that the cluster should display, include them in the order notes.
Q: I have a 2015 truck—how do I know if it’s a 2015 or a 2015.5?
A: Check your build sticker (usually in the glove box). If it has RPO codes AVF or VV4, you have a 2015.5 model and should use the 2015.5 part numbers.
Q: Can this be done for Export (Metric) clusters?
A: Yes, we can program metric clusters and even supply them via the Denali Cluster Upgrade Kit
Q: Can you program an Escalade cluster to work?
A: Yes, but it is not recommended due to higher costs, improper fitment, mismatched coloring, and non-compliance with warranty criteria. If you still want it, we can do it!
Q: Will this work for my 2014 GMT900 truck or SUV?
A: No, this service is only for K2 platform vehicles.
Q: Does the cluster need to be the same model year as my truck?
A: Ideally yes, for 100% OEM functionality, you must use the same model year and engine type cluster as your truck. The only exception is if you have done a CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit using our supported modules. In that case, you can use a 2016 Red or Blue Gas part number, or a 2017 Blue Diesel cluster (for 2016 Diesel models only).
Q: I have a 2016 Silverado, but I only see Red clusters. What do I do?
A: There are 2016 Blue Gas clusters (US & Export) on the fitment list, and we can supply both if needed under the Kit item. If you have a Diesel, use a 2017 Blue Diesel cluster.
Q: What do “Red” and “Blue” mean for cluster colors?
A: Red clusters are found in early Sierra/Yukon models with red interior lighting. Blue clusters are used in Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, and 2017+ Sierra/Yukon with blue/green interior lighting.
Q: I did a CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit, but my steering wheel controls don’t work inside CarPlay/Android Auto. Can you help?A: Yes, but there is a specific list of compatible components. If you are planning a CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade, it is best to do everything at the same time to avoid issues. Use a 2016 Red or Blue GAS cluster or a 2017 Diesel unit for best compatibility.
Q: I have a 2015 2500/3500 with a CarPlay Retrofit and a 2016 Red or 2017 Blue cluster, but I see “Hill Assist” activating—why?A: Early 2015 HD trucks with original EBCM/CCM calibration still have 2015.5+ Hill Start Assist data on the bus. This will not affect operation but can be removed with an EBCM/CCM software update.
Q: Will this work if I have an IO3/IOB Radio?
A: Yes, but you will not see audio information. Most users install this when replacing an IO3/IOB radio with an aftermarket unit. You will need steering wheel controls for menu navigation, but the audio buttons will not function.
Q: Will I lose any features?
A: No, you will not lose any existing features.
Q: Will I gain any features?
A: Possibly. Denali clusters have different menus and can display added factory options such as front park assist indicators or the navigation menu if you have added factory navigation.
Q: I have a 2014-2015 with a CarPlay retrofit and a 2016 Gas or 2017 Diesel Cluster, but my Offroad menu doesn’t work—why?A: The 2014-2015 models lack the data on the vehicle bus for this feature to function fully. We left it enabled so you can see 4WD status, but if it bothers you, you can disable it in the menu rotation.
Q: Can you remove warning indicators for deleted vehicle components?
A: Yes, we can customize this. Pricing varies, so contact us before ordering.
Q: Can you add indicators for features I have added, beyond Park Assist or HUD?
A: Yes, we can customize this as well. Contact us for details.
Q: What is the HUD Retrofit Option?
A: This enables the cluster to support a heads-up display (HUD). Diesel clusters do not have HUD outputs. If you have Forward Collision Alert, enabling HUD will disable the LED warning indicator, so choose wisely. You are responsible for all of the missing wiring, switches, HUD module etc we just enable support for it. HarnessDR.com makes a retrofit harness for this application.
Q: What is the Odometer Lock Option?
A: This removes the odometer hard lock from a cluster that has been tampered with or improperly installed (odometer showing “——”). Some 2014-2015 units cannot be unlocked if the lock has been hard-set.
Q: Why don’t you ask for my mileage?
A: The odometer syncs automatically to your correct mileage upon install—no user input is needed.
Q: What about my engine hours?
A: Denali clusters show total running hours as well as idle hours, while base clusters only display total running hours. By default, we reset both to zero. If you want your actual hours programmed, you must get a GDS2 report from a dealership with both total and idle hours, include them in your order notes, and reply to your confirmation email with the report attached.
Q: Do I need to send in my factory cluster?
A: No, we only need the Denali cluster you are supplying (if you are not purchasing a complete kit from us).
Q: Where is the transmission temp gauge?
A: It now only appears in Tow/Haul mode. There is no standalone menu for it.
Q: Why does my Silverado show an SUV icon in some menus?A: This allows for the Chevrolet startup screen instead of a GMC/Denali-themed one. Most Chevrolet customers prefer the Chevrolet startup, so we set them up this way.

Found this company after I bought my new truck and decided to do the Denali Cluster swap and I am more than happy with the decision. Everything worked as advertised and had great customer service. If you’re on the fence of doing this, DO IT. Thank you WAMS for your awesome work and service. I will definitely be using you in the future on some more upgrades.

Super happy with this purchase. Simply followed the steps exactly and my Denali cluster came back timely, looked awesome and works great. Would recommend the upgrade. A big driving experience upgrade for not a ton of money. It’s like I bought a better truck 🙂

Excellent customer service! I converted my IO3 Sierra to IO5 with the Denali cluster and steering wheel controls with help from WAMS. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks!

Love the cluster. I know I must have driving White Automotive Employees crazy. Over about 8 months I sent numerous emails asking questions. I went back and forth trying to decide if I should change the cluster. It was an expensive purchase, basically the same price of a 60 inch flat screen. After watching several videos on YouTube and how great it looked I decided to pull the trigger. I’m so glad I did. It totally improved the look of the dash. It gave my Yukon a more luxury SUV vibe. Installing it was simple, again watching YouTube. Worth every penny.

I will echo the same level of sentiments that are in Mr. Walker’s January 20th, 2023 comment. The people at WAMS have a responsive customer service team. At one time, I found myself sending out email questions at 8 pm or even 9 pm prior to ordering the Denali Cluster service. I wanted to be as thorough as possible to make sure I had the right expectations. To my amazement, I had received two separate responses that same evening from WAMS Sales. I sourced my own Denali cluster and sent it in to WAMS. Once they received it, within 72 hours, it was reprogrammed and handed back to UPS to ship back to me. From the time they received the cluster, which was a Tuesday, I had received and installed the cluster into my truck Saturday of the same week. All the functions of the Denali cluster work, and I am very happy with my first time experience with WAMS. I will be looking to acquire other services from WAMS in the future as well. If you have been sitting on the fence regarding the Denali Cluster upgrade, I would trust WAMS to deliver on their customer focused service pledge.

Absolutely stellar. Works great and was a quick turnaround. Would 100% recommend for anyone wanting to move from a W/T screen to the Denali cluster.

I would recommend reading through their product description and comments thoroughly – I had several questions before I purchased a used Denali cluster on Ebay and WAMS promptly replied to all my questions. Got the cluster, purchased their programming service, and shipped the unit off to them. They noted it may take up to 3 weeks to get the cluster programmed and back in the mail due to their order/business volume, which didn’t bother me – BUT, to my excitement, they had it reprogrammed and back in the mail in 3 or 4 days! Got the cluster installed in my truck and couldn’t be happier. All the features, as noted in the WAMS product description and comments, are working as stated. As another reviewer commented, the whole transaction with WAMS was seemless – great folks, great service.

Awesome folks to deal with. Seem less transaction especially if you follow their directions. Sent what I thought was a new Denali cluster and found out from WAMS it in fact was used. Nevertheless they programmed it and sent it back my way.

Super fast work, everything works perfectly, I messed around and ended using someone else on my last cluster as was referred by forum, but immediately found wams on there, and for this one they were 100% spot on.

WAMS was really helpful on getting my orders in and out and making sure I was well informed on what needed to be done. Even created a way to see info on the vin number provided, thank you for all your help. I am very satisfied!

WAMS really stepped up when I purchased the wrong cluster. Supplied me with the correct one and got it to me in a timely manner. One of the best upgrades to my truck and the cluster worked flawlessly from the git go. Plan on doing more mods, front parking sensors, and I will go to them for that. Can’t go wrong with WAMS

these guys are rock stars. i fell for the “its plug and play” crap on the truck facebook page and even though plenty of people warned me ignored them and put a used cluster in my truck with no programming my next dealer visit my truck got flagged and i had a mess on my hands as to why my odometer wasnt showing. Whites worked with me to get the cluster fixed and properly programmed so my odometer came back and i didnt have any more service warnings at startup then went the extra mile to work with my dealer to clean up the mess i created. id give them 50 stars if i could thank you so much again!!
