Description

The CSM or Center Stack Module (often mislabeled as an HMI or simply Radio module) used in various GM vehicles can be prone to several common internal issues as well as complete failure. Simply follow the instructions below and we will get the correct North American Spec FACTORY NEW unit with full GM warranty for your application pre-programmed and ready for a simple plug and play swap self install; no dealer needed. These units are also completely pre-registered on the GM backend for proper operation of WiFi, App Shop, your Mobile Application etc.

You MUST choose the appropriate SAME ELECTRICAL ARCHITECTURE, MODEL YEAR AND TYPE (IOS/IOU or IOT) CSM for your vehicle as it was built using the instructions below. This is not intended to be an upgrade, downgrade OR change of any sort; it’s simply a replacement CSM with factory spec programming and the GM parts warranty. If you’re interested in an upgrade such as adding Navigation or HD Radio please see the various upgrades offered in other categories on the site as THIS WILL NOT ADD IT. AGAIN THIS IS A FACTORY REPLACEMENT PART WITH FACTORY PROGRAMMING AND YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR SELECTING THE PROPER UNIT USING THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FAQ BELOW.

Please make sure your vehicle has been professionally diagnosed by a GM dealer with a CSM failure prior to purchase as these are not returnable. There are some things that may not be CSM related that may appear to be, but on the flip side there are some smoking guns described below that are absolutely the CSM.

Q:
How do I determine if I have a CSM based application or if this product will work for me?
A:
First look at the home screen pictures in the product gallery. There is one Cadillac (dark blue background) and one very similar looking for all other GM Brands for IOS/IOU/IOT and finally one for Google Infotainment (IOK) currently only found in full size truck/SUV applications. Does your home screen look like one of those? If so you very likely have a CSM. Next you will need to scan the QR code on the driver door / B Pillar to pull up an RPO/Option List. Inside that list you’ll be looking for IOS, IOU, IOT or IOK; that is your CSM type. There are also IOR Radios that have home screens that look VERY similar to some CSM applications but they DO NOT have the App Shop; ALL CSM’s in North America have the App Shop so if you don’t have the App Shop you have an IOR radio and this is not for you ( you can verify that by looking for RPO IOR as well)

Q: How do I tell which vehicle architecture I have?
A: Once you have determined that you do indeed have a CSM based application using the steps above use the list provided HERE to determine which Vehicle Architecture you have and select that option above then your model year and CSM type. **While we build this list please use the Contact Us page and provide your VIN and we will send you the exact choice to make here :)**

Q: Do these units come programmed?
A: Yes they are pre programmed.

Q: Do I need to visit a dealer to install or after installing one of these?
A: No the units are pre-programmed for simple plug and play replacement after disconnecting the battery.

Q: Will my OnStar WiFi, App Shop etc. work with this?
A: Yes these come pre registered on the back end for continuity.

Q: Is there a Core Charge? Do I have to return my faulty CSM to you?
A: No. We do not have any core charge nor do we require a core return as we do not resell cores. We would ask that you recycle your old unit responsibly though.

Q: I want to change my configuration from navigation to non navigation or vice versa can I do that?
A: NO, not with this product. As noted in the description this is a 1:1 replacement for whatever your vehicle was built with at the factory we do however offer a Navigation upgrade services elsewhere in the shop that could be combined with this purchase.

Q: Can this be used to retrofit any features?
A: NO. We may offer other kits that retrofit the feature(s) you’re looking for.

Q: I’m looking for a specific part number that I pulled out of my vehicle?
A: These units were superseded often, the part number doesnt matter here only choosing the correct architecture, model year and type does. Doing so will get you the latest available part number for your application.

Q: The bag was opened when I received the unit?
A: Yes some of these come in sealed bags, we have to open the bag in order to program and test them; this is normal.

Q: Will this fix “X” issue that I’m experiencing?
A: ANY potential CSM replacement needs be diagnosed by a GM dealer PRIOR to ordering a replacement. There are many things that can present as an CSM failure but not actually be CSM related. We test every unit prior to shipping so we know when they leave here they are in proper working order so if this doesn’t fix your issue the dealer that diagnosed it needs to further diagnose your issue. This includes even the Ghost Input issue below be prior to ordering a new screen even given the near certain odds it’s the culprit.

Q: My infotainment says “Waiting for Update Media” is this my HMI?
A: Yes, this is probably the only mode of failure for these that is a sure thing for an HMI replacement.  This is a very common mode of failure for them and this will fix that.

Q: My display is randomly registering inputs, changing stations on its own basically like a ghost is operating it; will this fix that?
A: Generally speaking no. Ghost Touch/Inputs are typically caused by a faulty digitizer in the screen.

Q: My unit said “NO VIN” when installed is that normal?
A: Yes thats normal assuming your vehicle is functioning correctly it will say that briefly at install and go away never to be seen again. We program the unit with specific software based on the VIN provided however some of these units learn the vehicle VIN from the data bus at first power up and locks to it.
